A few early reviews
These were my early reviews, before I actually started taking notes. And developed my highly evolved rating scale.

Cinderella Story- A Christmas Wish
This movie was the worst. I mean THE WORST. Yes the title alone means it isn't going to be up for any Oscars, but I almost gave this movie an F. That is how bad it was. Premise being we have our Cinderella "Kat" whose father dies leaving her with a cruel stepmom and two equally cruel stepsisters. One of the stepsisters is constantly seeking to increase her social media following while the other is not paying attention a lot of the time and is the recipient of a lot jokes about her intelligence. I told you this movie is bad. Enter the prince, aka son of a billionaire who is working in his fathers "Santas Village" as Santa, therefore wearing a costume, therefore Kat of course falls for him as she works there as an elf. Oh and wait, it gets worse! She is a songwriter and her songs are terrible. So it is a sort of musical. Guess what. They fall in love, stepmom is ousted, and billionaire says he will fund her music career as he was long lost friends with her Dad. The end. Do not waste your time on this one. D-
PSA Time for new storylines that don't make stepfamilies the bad people.
Holiday Rush
This charming movie is about a widower who is a famous radio personality who is fired right before Christmas. His children who are used to living in the 1% socioeconomic status have to return to the middle class status from whence they came. It sounds like it would be obnoxious but it isn't, okay it their behavior is mildly obnoxious but it has a really adorable ending. And a fantastic aunt. Overall I give this movie a solid B.
Let It Snow was adorable- glad there was diversity in sexual orientation and in the cast. This is rare. B
The Knight Before Christmas was incredibly predictable and a good background movie while you are doing other things. B

The Christmas Inheritance
This movie is about a young white woman known as a "party heiress" who is inheriting her fathers company, but before she does that she has to go to the small town where they are from and learn some "small town values." Bonus on the cast is Jake Lacy from The Office who plays the small town guy who had his heart broken in the big city, and Andie McDowell who plays his aunt and teaches the city woman how to bake. I give this movie a C.
Elliot the Littlest Reindeer
This movie was recommended to me if I was on cold medication by Alex and it is perfect for that. Think CGI reindeer, little horses and goats. And an elf gone bad. On the sheer entertainment scale I give it a B- as well. Warning, it is a little overwhelming because there is a lot going on. Or maybe because of my cold. You give it a watch and let me know.
Santa Girl
This movie centers around Cassie the daughter of Santa. Cassie is betrothed to the son of Jack Frost but she has never met him because they were betrothed at birth. Because apparently her sexual orientation was decided for her. Cassies one wish is to go away to college for one semester before she marries Jack Jr.. Her father consents and sends an elf (who is hilarious) with her to keep her in line/support her. Once at college she meets JR (spoiler alert- the son of Jack Frost) and some other guy who is sporting a haircut straight out of the 90's Seattle grunge scene. JR tries to woo her while his father (Jack Frost who is super creepy) spies on her, nice guy with grunge haircut tries to be her friend. Cassies discovers smart phones, the internet, and social media. She also has a Bewitched nose move that makes things happen. Another spoiler alert, JR proposes, fesses up, she agrees to marry him to appease her Dad. Santa rolls in realizing the error of his ways and brings grunge guy to wedding, wedding is called off and Cassie and grunge guy go back to school happily in love. JR realizes he has been living under his fathers thumb for too long and goes off to develop a personality. I hope.
End scene? Santa who was on a diet realizes the error of his ways and returns to sugar cookies. B-

The Holiday Calendar
This movie centers around Abby who is a struggling photographer who takes a lot of picture of other people at a terrible photo studio, think JC Penney. For the holidays she takes pics at a Santa's Village type place of children with Santa, who goes by Bob. Her BFF Josh returns from traveling the world and is way into her. So into her that he gets a job at same Santas Village. He is so charming this doesn't come off as creepy but IRL this would be super creepy. She keeps him in the friend zone.
Her grandfather gives her a mildly haunted advent calendar that seems to predict the future- or she could be just reading into it and trying to make meaning out of nothing. No candy is coming out of this calendar. This is a travesty.
As she has this love/hate relationship with the calendar, she dates a hot Dad from her nieces school, but eventually realizes Josh is the one for her. Newsflash Abby and Josh, if you had told each other of your feelings in the beginning I would have saved 2 hours of my life. Despite the snarkiness in my review, I actually really enjoyed this move. B
Also my advent calendar just offers up characters from the Nutcracker.

Naughty & Nice- On Hallmark. FYI on the Hallmark app you can get the first 7 days free and it is only $5.99 for a month (#cancelinJanuary). This movie is about a LA based shock jock who is sent to a small town radio station in Colorado as punishment. He has to then co-host a show with Haley Duff. I want to like Hayley Duff I really do, but I don't. This movie has some entertaining support characters but both of the main characters were meh. Best quote of this movie "Who knew memorials were this much fun?" C+
Coincidence that both of these movies feature a city person who learns the error of their ways in a small town? Just another holiday movie trope. Come on people, there are other plot lines!
Hitched for the Holidays
This movie stars Joey Lawrence & Emily Hampshire (Stevie from Schitts Creek!) as two single people who meet on Craigslist to fake date to get their families off their backs during the holidays. Also interfaith dating as well. Of course- spoiler alert. They fall in love. This movie was entertaining, I would give it a B-.
Merry Kissmas
This charming tale warns of the perils of mistletoe in elevators. Favorite part? When the female protagonist who is dating a narcissistic ballet director wishes for Santa to teach her how to set boundaries. Sigh. Enter hot caterer who becomes even hotter when he rescues a Westie from the local shelter. You can see very clearly where this is going. Also shameless promotions from Kay Jewelers. B- The dog saved it.
Married by Christmas
This movie centers around Carrie who is career driven and intent on running her fathers company one day. Enter her sister who announces surprise! Here is her new beau and they are getting married on Christmas Eve! Which normally wouldn't be a big deal except great aunt so and so was a big fan of the patriarchy and wrote it into her will that whichever sister got married first, the company would go to her husband. Other than the obvious heterosexism here and total lack of caring about business acumen, what follows is that Carrie then tries to get married fast. Spoiler alert, she can't find someone that fast. Another spoiler alert she falls in love with someone who she hates at the beginning. C for sheer entertainment purposes.
